The evolution of ovens: from their birth in ancient Egypt to modern design
The oven was originally created as a means to harness and contain the power of fire while optimizing cooking time. The origins of ovens as baking tools date back to Egypt around 3000 BC. However, these ovens were very different from what we know today they were more like heated stone plates used to bake bread over an open fire.
It would take a few thousand years to reach dome-shaped ovens, which first appeared in ancient Greek and Roman times. The evolution in this field never stopped new materials, structures, shapes, and fuels continually emerged.
In recent times, thanks to new production technologies allowing for endless solutions, the oven has transformed from a cooking tool into a piece of decor. Since its inception, ALFA has combined style and functionality, starting with refractory ovens and evolving to stainless steel and electric models.
